Jerry W. Henry, CFRE — Partner

Jerry W. Henry, CFRE, Partner, provides counsel on a daily-basis to a wide range of organizations including educational institutions, social service groups, cultural institutions and faith-based organizations.

A self-described “renaissance man,” Jerry’s expertise has reached well over 100 clients nationwide since he joined the Firm in 1998, including Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at Southern Illinois, the Tampa Bay History Center, Ron Clark Academy, and First Presbyterian Church, Atlanta. He is known for a “gentle but direct” leadership style whether he is meeting with academicians at Yale University where he serves on the Yale Divinity School Alumni Board or facilitating a grassroots group of art enthusiasts who wish to start a new organization.

Before joining Alexander Haas, Jerry served as Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Brenau University in Gainesville, GA, where he helped develop strategies for capital campaigns totaling over $30 million and oversaw the University’s $1 million annual fund program.

Prior to that, Jerry served as Vice President of The Winfield Group, a market research and strategic planning firm for nonprofit organizations where he developed strategic action plans for YMCA’s, healthcare agencies, arts organizations and social service groups nationwide. A former United Methodist clergyman, earlier in his career, he was the Executive Director for a 3,000-member national organization for clergy, musicians and artists.

Now an Episcopalian, Jerry spends his free time volunteering at his parish, the Cathedral of St. Philip; serving as the Atlanta representative for the Yale Divinity School Alumni organization; and supporting the work of AID Atlanta. As of January 2009, he is the President of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, one of the largest chapters in the nation. His personal art collection reflects his “renaissance spirit” and runs the gamut from photography to turned-wood bowls to antique silver.

A native of South Carolina, Jerry holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wofford College and a Master of Divinity from Yale University.
